Products made from Crinum latifolium L. plant “come out” from the KC.06/11-15 program meeting export standards to the US market are one of the living proofs of the success of this program.
At the conference to evaluate the results of the Program of Research on application and development of Technology for the production of key products (KC.06/11-15) and development orientation, held on June 30th, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, Mr. Pham Cong Tac said “The program KC.06/11-15 relates to key products such as hybrid rice, pharmaceuticals meeting export standards to the US market, marbled eel (Anguilla marmorata), snubnose pompano (Trachinotus blochii), etc. These are “dots” showing the picture of Vietnam's key products related to agriculture and rice. Through the reports of scientists, entrepreneurs, managers and representatives of research institutes, I highly appreciate the results the KC.06/11-15 program has achieved in recent years”.

Of the 46 missions of the program, there are up to 41 missions in the agricultural sector. Many typical technologies have been successfully applied, such as the intensive farming process of commodity maize for the hybrid maize LVN111 and LVN102, which yield 2-3 tons/hectare higher than the other varieties. The industrial process of hatching and commercially breeding marbled eel in the circulation and open system is a breakthrough to help the development of eel-farming in Vietnam and reduce the cost of breed as well as commercial breeding.
The KC.06/11-15 program has 108 technology processes are standardized synchronously, creating 19 crops recognized as pilot varieties and official varieties (including 8 rice varieties, 2 soybean varieties, 2 maize varieties, 1 varieties of Crinum latifolium L., 2 varieties of seedless citrus fruits and 2 varieties of dragon fruit).
According to Deputy Minister - Mr. Pham Cong Tac, studies of the program have contributed to help Vietnam’s key products have a foothold in the domestic and global market. It is extremely hard to get into difficult markets like the US, Japan or the EU. These countries have not only technical barriers to foreign products, but also many effective ways to protect their entrepreneurs and consumers.
Health supplement Crila Forte capsule - a product of the KC.06/11-15 program, under the project of completing the technological process of producing Crila hard capsule chaired by Dr. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tram – has satisfied export standards to the US market. The product is made from Crinum latifolium L. plant cultivated in clean GACP plantation.
Dr. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tram said “The extraction process of materials reaches a capacity of 1,000 kg/batch, and the preparation process reaches a capacity of 500,000 capsules/batch. The product is made under GMP-WHO criteria. The expansion of herbal plantation has created new medicinal products from clean raw materials, helped to take the initiative in medicinal ingredients and demonstrate creative capacity of the medicine, science and technology’s staff of Vietnam
“I am entirely surprised that Crila Forte has entered the US. Although the quantity is still modest, this is a good thing,” said Deputy Minister – Mr. Pham Cong Tac. He added “The KC.06 program has impressed me. These are the products and results of many years of scientists’ lives and eventually ours. Scientists, businesses, and managers have made a positive contribution to Vietnam’s key products. Although these are only products close to human such as agricultural products and food including rice, maize, coffee, tea, and aquatic products, some of products relate to medicinal plants”.
According to Assoc.Prof. Dr. Tran Quoc Thang – Program Manager, the missions have achieved results with specific products, aiming to quality requirements and the ability to dominate the market, but it takes more time to expand the scale and target at sustainablity. “I hope the results will be replicated and further improving product quality, as well as increasing the number of products and dominating the market”, Mr. Thang said.
