This medicine is manufactured from natural material; therefore, its strong points are causing few side effects and gaining belief from patients. Nowadays, there is a tendency all over the world to back to nature and seek for active substances from herbs to formulate medicine for patients. So that, Research Development and Manufacture CRINA Center, under National phytopharma joint-stock company  accepted Dr. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tram’s research work  to extract Crila capsule in treating  benign prostatic hyperplasia. The main materials are Alkaloids extracted from Crinum latifolium L., which is planted in organic plantation in Long Thanh, Dong Nai province.

Crila capsule is the result of Dr. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tram and Vietnamese and foreign colleagues’ research work which was tested and highly appraised by the Council of Sciences of the Ministry of Health. The effect of Crila capsule is up to 89.18% for treatment of BPH. Crila is undergone clinical trials stage 3 under Regulation No.371 at National Hospital of Traditional Medicine, Ho Chi Minh National Hospital of Traditional Medicine, and National Institute on Aging.
The result from this research report brought hope to millions of patients who suffer from prostate cancer. After testing pharmacological effects on hamsters and then small-scale clinical trial on human, the result is great. The average weight of prostate reduces by 35.8% on hamster and approximately 60% on human.
On July 21, 2005, Crila capsule was allowed nationwide circulation by the Drug Administration in Vietnam to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia under the Decision No.135/QĐ-QLD.
To affirm the ability to treat uterine fibroids of Crinum latifolium L. in folk, Ministry of Health approved Crila capsule to undergo clinical trials stage 1 & 2 and the treatment effect is up to 63%. At present, CRILA capsule is continuing to have clinical trials stage 3 with the bigger number of patients at National Maternity Hospital, Tu Du Maternity Hospital, and Ho Chi Minh National Hospital of Traditional Medicine.
The result showed that Crila capsule from Crinum latifolium L. can improve prostatic disorder on patients suffering benign prostatic hyperplasia. CRILA capsule is used to reduce BPH tumor size after 2 months of therapy. Especially, it has few side effects. Uterine fibroids patients will have a kind of medicine with high treatment effect and reasonable price soon.
